Should My Brand or Business Be On TikTok?

Should you have a TikTok account for your business?

Many business owners are influenced by friends to create accounts on every popular platform. This isn't necessarily an efficient use of time and money. Before jumping on the TikTok bandwagon, here are some things to consider:

Can you keep up with another platform? Do you have the time to post constantly on another social media account? Letting your account become stagnant can confuse potential customers. If you haven't posted in a few months, they aren't sure if you are even still in business. Be careful not to take on more responsibility than you have available resources.

Is your target audience on TikTok? The two demographics you want to consider are age and gender. If you’re not sure who your audience is, a professional marketing consultant can help you determine your target audience (this may be the single important piece of your marketing strategy, FAR beyond social media).

Once you know who your audience is, see if your demographic is using TikTok.

Nearly 90% of the millions of TikTok users are under age 35. TikTok can be a great tool for reaching younger age groups (16–29). If your business is associated with a younger crowd, like high school & college students, recent graduates, or young parents, TikTok is an ideal place to focus.

If your target audience is a bit older, you may want to focus on Pinterest, Instagram or Facebook instead. Pinterest is especially great if your ideal consumers are mostly women. Facebook is ideal for the over 40 crowd. Of course, you CAN do it all! Just remember, time is money. Invest your time on the platforms that yield the best results.
